Getting Started Guide

Here is everything you need to get started with your new Blaze King Industrial Fireproofing Machine

Step 1: Connect Power

1. Both the remote start pendant and the power adapter plug are shipped with the machine and are located inside the electrical enclosure.

2. Insert the power adapter plug into the power cord from the electrical enclosure, pressing the two arrows together ensuring proper alignment (FIG. 1-1). Once arrows are aligned, and the plugs are fully inserted, turn to the right to lock into place. Note: This may require some jogging and a little extra strength to ensure both plugs are securely locked into place.

3. Connect the machine to a 240VAC power source. The recommended voltage is 240VAC with at least 30-amp capacity (FIG. 1-1).

4. Once there is power to the machine, check the voltage on the digital display, making certain voltage is +10% of 230VAC (207VAC – 253VAC) (see FIG. 1-2).

5. Plug the remote start pendant into the electrical enclosure power cable (see FIG. 1-3).

Step 2: Mechanical Setup

1. The carting disk (FIG. 2-1) has a recommended default setting of 1-3/8″ gap as a starting point for the Blaze Shield II and Blaze Shield HP material types.

Step 3: Startup & Operation

1. Once there is power to the machine and the remote start pendant, place the load table (rotatable shelf) into the deploy position (FIG. 3-1). Take this opportunity to check the hopper for any debris or any items that may have fallen inside the machine.

2. Turn the electrical disconnect to the ON position (FIG. 3-2).

3. The E-Stop pushbutton located on the left side of the load table should illuminate green (FIG. 3-3). If the pushbutton is flashing RED, twist the E-Stop pushbutton to the right to release it. After releasing the E-Stop pushbutton the E-Stop pushbutton light should illuminate green.

4. Verify that the variable frequency drive (VFD) is powered ON (FIG. 3-4). The operator control pad should reflect 0.00 on the display (see FIG. 3-4).

5. To start the augers and Material Feed System press and hold the remote start pendant (FIG. 1-3) for five (5) seconds. While holding the START button on the remote, an audible alarm should sound alerting the operator loading the material, that the augers and Material Feed System is about to start moving. If at any time during the five (5) seconds, the switch is released the alarm will discontinue and the starting of the feed system will be canceled.

6. Using the dial on the VFD operator control pad, set the desired blower speed.

7. Hold the remote start pendant START button for five (5) seconds. An audible alarm should sound before the augers and Material Feed System start moving. Releasing the switch during this period will cancel the process.

8. Alternatively, use the START switch on the DC Drive Controller:

  • UP Position – Starts the DC Motor (material feed and motor)
  • CENTER Position – Normal operation using the remote start pendant
  • DOWN Position – Stops the DC drive

9. To adjust the auger speed, use the rotary potentiometer dial on the DC Motor Controller.

10. To STOP the feed system and augers, press the remote start pendant or move the START switch on the DC Motor Controller to the DOWN position.

11. To STOP the entire machine, press the E-Stop pushbutton or the RED STOP button on the right side of the load table.

Step 4: Machine Shutdown

1. Turn the blower and drive speed to zero (0) on the VFD (reference FIG. 3-4).

2. Press the E-Stop button (FIG. 3-7) located on the left side of the load table.

3. Turn the electrical disconnect to the OFF position (FIG. 4-1), located on the right side of the load table.

WARNING:

If at any time guards need to be removed for maintenance or material becomes jammed into the machine, all machine movement needs to be stopped, and power removed from the system before any interaction with the machine. The system is supplied with electrical breakers that can be reset if tripped.

Please note that the electrical disconnect has a mechanical lock which prevents the electrical enclosure door from being opened while the disconnect is in the ON position. This ensures that power has been removed from the circuits before allowing access to the enclosure.

Also be aware that if the disconnect is in the OFF position, the incoming power wires to the disconnect will still have electrical power on them and can be deadly if encountered. Please unplug ALL electrical power from the machine before any service is performed inside the electrical enclosure.
